Energy Conservation Workshop 2008

Held in September 2008 under the theme “Tourism Responding to the Challenge of Climate Change”, the workshop targeted owners/managers of accommodation establishments but was open to other interested persons.
The objectives were to provide information on designing and implementing conservation programmes at hotels and other tourism businesses; to adapt tourism businesses to changing climate conditions; and to identify best practices in energy conservation. The workshop was conducted by a facilitator from the Florida Solar Energy Centre, University of Central Florida.
Eighty persons attended the workshop and commented on the wealth of information available. They also agreed to take positive steps to adopt ‘greener’ operational measures at their businesses and homes.
